The School of Civil Engineering at UANL is complemented by the Civil Engineering Institute (CEI), a building that houses the laboratory facilities for teaching laboratories and research activities, as well as service to the community, and also houses the division of graduate studies and research.
The construction of the current CEI began in 1975 with the contribution of the University Board of Trustees. Since 1979, even without completing the fundamental facilities, the transfer of several departments began to offer only academic laboratory services.
The building of the Civil Engineering Institute was reopened on August 20, 1990 by Mr. Jorge Treviño Martínez, Governor of the State of Nuevo León, Mr. Gregorio Farías Longoria, Rector of the UANL, and Mr. Juan Francisco Garza Tamez, Dean of the School of Civil Engineering.
Currently, in addition to providing support with laboratories for academic activities, the CEI provides service to the community, working there with responsible professionals supported by duly trained technicians and with the necessary high-tech equipment and instruments.
THE CEI integrates the 14 departments listed below, which work on the generation of new knowledge for its transfer to the new generations of civil engineers who are trained in the classrooms of the School of Civil Engineering, to contribute to the state of knowledge and in its transfer to professional practice in benefit of society.
